Martin Barre, longtime guitarist for the band Jethro Tull, is scheduled for a live telephone interview with host Eli Polonsky at 12:30 PM EDT!
From Birmingham, England, Martin moved to London in 1966 and joined a band that, after many changes in names and styles, became blues band Gethsemene in 1968. Late that year, Martin joined Jethro Tull after the departure of original guitarist Mick Abrahams. Their second album "Stand Up", recorded with Martin in 1969, marked their shift from blues to progressive rock.
By 1971, Jethro Tull became a top worldwide touring attraction, and Martin's solo on the title track of their Billboard Top Ten album "Aqualung" was voted one of the top rock guitar solos of all time by Guitar Player magazine. Martin was the only member of Jethro Tull in addition to founder Ian Anderson to remain with the band continuously until their dissolution in 2014.
Martin's current band performs music from the Jethro Tull catalogue plus more recent solo work. They will be performing at the Hanover Theatre in Worcester on Friday, April 29, and the Blue Ocean Music Hall in Salisbury, MA on Saturday, April 29. Listen for your chances to win tickets!
Location: 88.1 FM
