The Blues Project's groover "Wake Me, Shake Me" became a staple of stateside freakbeat and garage jams was inspired by a 1963 live gospel recording from the Golden Chords that dates back at least to 1930s. The gospel selection also was used for The Coasters 1960 single of the same name.
