WMBR will air the 20th Annual Homelessness Marathon, a national dialogue on poverty in America, from noon to 8 pm. on Tuesday, June 12th. The Homelessness Marathon is the only broadcast of its kind, focusing on poverty and homelessness and featuring the voices of homeless people talking about their real circumstances and the real obstacles they face. Each year it takes place on the streets of a different city.
The 20th Homelessness Marathon will originate from Washington, DC. This year's broadcast will be held in conjunction with a national march led by the Poor People's Economic Human Rights Campaign. Poor people and their allies are coming from all over the country and Puerto Rico to the National Mall. Some of the marchers will be interviewed on the broadcast.
As always, the Homelessness Marathon will feature live reports, the voices of advocates and experts, and phone calls from all over the country to create a dialogue on poverty that's completely missing from current political discourse.
Location: On the Air at 88.1 FM
