Two Hour Special and Interview with Judy Collins on WMBR's Lost & Found Program

Was aired on the program: Tuesday, June 19, 2018
12:00pm - 2:00pm

Judy Collins has been in the vanguard of folk and popular music since 1961, when she released her first album "Maid of Constant Sorrow," a showcase for traditional folk songs. By her third LP she was covering the music of her folkie colleagues, including Bob Dylan, and continued to introduce and interpret songs by such artists as Tom Paxton, Mimi and Richard Farina, Joni Mitchell, and particularly Leonard Cohen. Beginning with her highest charting album, 1967's "Wildflowers," Collins started writing her own material as well, and her extraordinary voice began being heard by all with "Both Sides Now," a hit written by Mitchell. More hits followed, including her versions of "Amazing Grace, "Send in the Clowns," and "Cook With Honey." Collins' brief relationship in 1968 with Stephen Stills (Buffalo Springfield and Crosby, Stills & Nash) led to CSN's widely recognized "Suite: Judy Blue Eyes," and currently she is on tour with Stephen following their 2017 effort "Everybody Knows." They are appearing at the Lynn Auditorium on Thursday, June 21st.
