Simon and Garfunkel helped define the '60s, surely the most successful folk-rock duo of the era. Ten Grammy nominations, over 100 million records, all with only five original studio records to their name. It started for them in sixth grade in Queens, NY. Paul Simon wrote the songs and sang, and Art Garfunkel joined him in the harmonies with a beautiful tenor. Rifts, breakups, and reunions occurred with some regularity throughout the years, with both going off in 1970 to pursue their own solo careers. Paul completed his "Farewell Tour" this past summer. Art continues to play on the road, and provides us with a very eccentric interview, with plenty of lighthearted (I think) sparring. Hosted by Bob Dubrow.
Art Garfunkel is appearing at Boston's City Winery on Monday and Tuesday, December 17 and 18.
Location: 88.1 FM
