June Millington, founding member of early 1970's pioneering all-female rock group Fanny, will be interviewed live by host Alex McNeil starting at about 1:00 PM.
Fanny was formed in 1969 by guitarist June Millington, her sister bassist Jean Millington, drummer Alice de Buhr, and keyboardist Nickey Barclay. The group released five albums by 1973. While the Runaways and the Go Go's are remembered as the early all-female rock bands, Fanny pre-dates them by several years, and their existence and popularity was instrumental to the rise of the female bands that followed.
Members of Fanny will reunite for their first performance together in 30 years and receive the 2007 "Women Of Valor" award from ROCKRGRL magazine at the Berklee Performance Center in Boston on Friday, April 20.
Location: 88.1 FM
