Jake Brennan will be interviewed and perform live at around 5pm.
"A singer/songwriter whose music combines equal portions of passion, heart, and swagger, Boston native Jake Brennan first made a name for himself as the lead singer with the punk band Cast Iron Hike. Joining the band in 1993 when he was 19 years old, Brennan went on to cut an album and an EP with Cast Iron Hike, but he eventually grew tired of the rigid musical boundaries of the band and developed a taste for country, blues, and roots sounds." -- Allmusic.com
Brennan, now working on solo material has again recorded with producer Paul Kolderie (Morphine, Uncle Tupelo) on an upcoming release tentatively titled "This Is Not My Record," Brennan has this to say about the release. "The folk singer is dead. His bones are buried in the basement of your local chain coffeshop. These are hardcore times. Folk music, hardcore music... Immediate, simple. Protest songs, ballads, breakdowns. Raw, primal and of the people. This is not my record this is hardcore folk!"
Brennan will give us a taste of hardcore folk as well as talk about his upcoming Pop Ed project for the Boston Globe, where he'll write/record/release a song a day, ripped from the day's headlines. Whew! And I thought I was busy.
