Two Hour Special and Interview with Ian Anderson of Jethro Tull on WMBR's Lost & Found Program

Was aired on the program: Tuesday, August 27, 2019
12:00pm - 2:00pm

Following up our interview show in November with Jethro Tull's longtime guitarist Martin Barre, we now present founder Ian Anderson as he takes us on a journey that only this loquacious and articulate bandleader can. He's the guy standing on one leg with codpiece and flute as his accoutrements. Tull began as a blues rock band and quickly blossomed into a harder rock unit with folk and prog elements. As the songwriter, Anderson's gift made for a a very intriguing string of albums from the late '70s through the '80s and into the '90s, with "Stand Up," "Aqualung," and "Thick as a Brick" likely the most acclaimed LPs. Anderson also began releasing solo albums beginning in the '80s. Jethro Tull splintered in 2011, and both Anderson and Barre started touring with their own separate bands. Ian is still celebrating with the "Jethro Tull 50th Anniversary Show" (the band initiated its courtship with the U.S. by first arriving on its shores in January of 1969), and brings it to the Chevalier Theatre in Medford, MA on Wednesday, September 11.
