"I'll Be Doggone," from 1965, is Marvin Gaye's first #1 and first million-selling single. It's shimmery mid-tempo goodness is quintessential mid-60s Motown/Tamla vibe. Co-written by Smokey and the Miracles, the song attracted a fan base of pre-garage/Merseybeat outfits and blues artists, thanks to Albert King's smoking 1972 version. We'll engage a variety of covers, inspirations, and sample for two hours.
Location: 88.1 FM
