"I GOT A WOMAN AND/OR SAVIOR" on WMBR's Subject to Change Program

It takes some chutzpah to adopt a gospel tune for a secular pop song about possessing a sexually-liberated woman, and that's what Ray Charles had. Ray's 1955 hit "I Got a Woman" was more than a little based on Southern Tones' "It Must Be Jesus." We'll hear multiple versions blasphemous to both versions. We'll come to understand how titans of rock n roll, including Elvis and the Beatles, became enamored of this tune, as well as country legends like Johnny Cash.
