Two Hour Special and Interview with Felix Cavaliere of The Rascals on WMBR's Lost & Found Program

Was aired on the program: Tuesday, December 24, 2019
12:00pm - 2:00pm

With a #1 hit per year from 1966-68 (Good Lovin', Groovin', and People Got to Be Free), as well as six other Top 20s, The Rascals provided an important pop soundtrack for the mid-to-late Sixties unparalleled by most. They were the first white group signed to the great Atlantic label, and began their career with some perfectly executed covers for their first album, quickly following the prevailing winds by penning their own tunes with Felix Cavaliere and Eddie Brigati as the songwriting team. As a band with a social conscience, The Rascals refused to tour without a black or integrated opening act, or play a venue that exhibited any sort of segregated behavior. This was not good for their career, but it's hard not to admire. The band folded in 1972, and made the Rock 'n' Roll Hall of Fame in 1997. Felix Cavaliere, singer, songwriter and Hammond organ player, shares his time with us today. Felix Cavaliere's Rascals perform at the Boston City Winery on Friday, December 27.
