Classic Chomsky: "Censorship, Free Speech & the Media"
Hosted by:
Originally aired:
To celebrate Independence Day, we present a half-hour excerpt from a classic speech by Noam Chomsky, Professor Emeritus in the Department of Linguistics and Philosophy at MIT, and Laureate Professor of Linguistics at the University of Arizona. He gave this speech at First Parish Church in Harvard Square, Cambridge, on March 11, 2002. Chomsky discussed the suppression of dissent in the United States from the Vietnam War until the post-9/11 era. Citing numerous under-reported historical facts, he made the case that US foreign and domestic policy grossly abuses human rights in the service of corporate power.
