The New England Folk Music Archives preserves, promotes and documents the cultural legacy of folk music in New England through education, collaboration and entertainment. Their collections from the 1960's folk revival to the present include photographs, recordings, and memorabilia from the Cambridge, MA folk community, the historic Club 47, the Newport Folk Festivals and much more.
Archives Founder Betsy Siggins and Director Timothy Mason will be joining host Eli Polonsky in the studio shortly after 12 noon to discuss the Archives and the rich legacy of the past five decades of folk music in New England. We also expect to hear by telephone from folk legend Geoff Muldaur, one of the luminaries of the Cambridge, MA folk scene in the 1960s!
The Archives will celebrate their Opening Gala (and Betsy Siggins' 70th birthday) this Sunday evening September 20 at the Hard Rock Cafe in Boston, including a live performance by Muldaur with his 1960s bandmate Jim Kweskin, and many others. All proceeds from the event will serve to help establish and build the New England Folk Archives.
Location: 88.1 FM
