Originally aired:
If quartets are the favorite youngest child of the chamber music family, and chamber orchestras are the mature, respected oldest child, then quintets are the awkward middle child. Nobody quite knows what to do with them, but several composers have written more than a few beautiful, lively quintets for a variety of instruments, and this week on Music By Dead People I'll present you a snapshot of some of them: Beethoven, Mendelssohn, Schubert, and more!
Location: 88.1 FM
