Keyboardist, singer and songwriter Rod Argent will be interviewed by telephone by host Eli Polonsky at around 1 PM! Argent formed The Zombies in 1961 with schoolmates including current lead singer, songwriter and guitarist Colin Blunstone in St. Albans, Hertfordshire, England.
Their first hit "She's Not There" reached #2 in the USA in 1964, and their second hit "Tell Her No" reached #6 USA in 1965. Both featured Argent's jazz-influenced keyboard style. The group toured America as part of the popular "British Invasion" in the mid '60s.
Their critically acclaimed second studio album "Odessey and Oracle" (as spelled on the album), recorded in 1967 and released after the band broke up in 1968, contained "Time of the Season", a #3 USA hit in 1969. Argent then formed his namesake band "Argent" that released over a half-dozen albums in the 1970s, and had the USA #5 hit "Hold Your Head Up" in 1972.
The reformed Zombies with founding members Argent and Blunstone currently tour worldwide, and will be at the Regent Theatre in Arlington on Sunday, July 7th. One pair of tickets including your chance to meet the band, and a copy of their 2011 CD "Breathe Out, Breathe In", will be given away during the interview!
Location: 88.1 FM
