In advance of The Yardbirds appearance at The Regent Theatre in Arlington, MA on September 12, Lost & Found will devote the whole two hours of its September 9th show to the music of The Yardbirds as well as a lengthy interview conducted by phone on September 6 with founding member Jim McCarty.
Jim McCarty is best known as the drummer for The Yardbirds and Renaissance. Following Chris Dreja's departure from The Yardbirds in 2013 McCarty became the only member of the band to appear in all of its incarnations. This particular tour features their original guitarist, Top Topham, playing in the band for the first time since his early departure in 1963, when Eric Clapton replaced him.
The Yardbirds are an English rock band that had a string of hits in the mid-1960s, including "For Your Love", "Over Under Sideways Down" and "Heart Full of Soul". The group is notable for having started the careers of three of rock's most famous guitarists: Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck, and Jimmy Page. A blues-based band that broadened its range into pop and rock, the Yardbirds had a hand in many electric guitar innovations of the mid-1960s, such as feedback, "fuzztone" distortion and improved amplification. After the Yardbirds broke up in 1968, their lead guitarist Jimmy Page founded what became Led Zeppelin.
