So back in 1989 when Pipeline! began, the local rule was never quite so hard and fast. In fact, many of the live performances were from bands coming through town, often heading over to the MIT campus in the mornings after a show the night before. It's best evidenced by the hangovers and various cures that get discussed and attempted during the recordings. With a set that ends as Jay Farrar rushes down the hallway toward the bathroom, Uncle Tupelo's performance at WMBR in February of 1991 was a prime example of this.
As we begin celebrating the 25th year of Pipeline!, Sony Legacy is reissuing a deluxe edition of Uncle Tupelo's debut album No Depression. To coincide with the release date, we are going to take over Riding the Norse Horse, and begin Pipeline! an extra hour early at 7 p.m. on January 28, 2014 and we will be rebroadcasting the band's live set in its entirety.
Location: 88.1 FM
