Host Julia Goldrosen will interview Zimbabwe's Alick Macheso at 4pm. Macheso is a popular Zimbabwean bass player, singer, and dancer famed for his electrifying live performances and charismatic stage presence. Alick Macheso & Orchestra Mberikwazvo will be stopping by the studios of WMBR before heading to the Regent Theatre in Arlington for their Sunday night performance. At 5pm, esteemed Ethiopian musician and MIT Abramowitz Artist-in-Residence, Mulatu Astatke will be joining us for a discussion. Astatke is credited with blending traditional Ethiopian musical forms with jazz to create "Ethio-jazz". He will be in residence at MIT from October 10 - 24 and will be presenting a public lecture entitled, "Ethiopian Contributions to a Development of World Music Instruments" on October 23. More info
