Alan Freed, Dave Clark Five, Bobby Keyes, and Ian McLagan Featured on WMBR's Lost & Found Program

Was aired on the program: Monday, December 15, 2014
12:00pm - 2:00pm

Spotlighting the birthdays of Alan Freed and Dave Clark, and commemorating the recent passing on of Bobby Keyes and Ian McLagan. Alan Freed (b. 1921) was not just one of the pioneering Rock N' Roll DJs; he actually named the new musical form, and tirelessly championed it against detractors. I'll feature vintage airchecks of his. Dave Clark (b. 1942) was leader/ co-songwriter/ drummer/ manager of the Dave Clark Five, who were second in popularity to only the Beatles in the US in 1964-65 amongst British Invasion groups. I'll feature B-sides and instrumentals. Bobby Keyes (d. Dec 2nd/ age 70) was a prolific session sax player, best known for his work on classic Rolling Stones LPs in the early/mid 70s. He also worked with Harry Nilsson, John Lennon, Eric Clapton, Joe Cocker, and The Who amongst many others. Ian McLagan (d. Dec 3rd/ age 69) was organ/keyboard player for the great mod band The Faces (mid-1966 to early 1969, 1975-1978 reunion), who morphed into the Faces (mid-1969 to fall 1975). Requests in advance welcome!!
