In an interview in 1977, former President Richard Nixon said, "When the president does it, that means that it is not illegal." Oh how we sniggered. Then, in 2024, with a 6-3 ruling in Trump v. United States, the U.S. Supreme Court announced that presidents get absolute immunity for core constitutional powers, as well as presumptive immunity for other official acts. This time we forgot to laugh. Here's the first of two shows of music from the '60s and '70s about the man known by some as Tricky Dick.
