This is the first installment of a series about the rock 'n' roll pioneers of the '50s, showcasing music from '60s and '70s acts who acknowledge their forerunners in their songs. This one features artists that sprang up in the earlier half of the '50s, and will be followed soon by Chuck and Elvis. It's unlikely to end there.
